Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Leaked

Qualcomm's next flagship SOC is ready to lift the cover from Snapdragon 855, which is known as the Snapdragon 8150 in the rumors phase, which was later in a program in Hawaii. But a few hours before the official announcement, important information about the upcoming chipset specifications such as basic architecture and capabilities has been leaked, thanks to a detailed article published by TechCrunch which was apparently under embargo and was not supposed to be out later today

According to the latest leak, Qualcomm's next flagship SOC will be called Snapdragon 855, not SnapDragon 8150 which was kept pop-up in rumors and benchmark platforms. Starting with Glasses, Snapdragon 855 will be the 'world's first 5G multi-gigabit compatible mobile platform'.

Speaking about core architecture, Snapdragon 855 is an octa-core chipset that employs three-cluster design, which has a single top-performance core at 2.84 GHz, four high-power cores at 2.42 GHz and four efficiency Core with clock speed of 1.78 GHz. However, details about the core such as their Kryo Gold or Silver naming were not confirmed until Qualcomm by TechCrunch.

Snapdragon 855 includes the Adreno 640 GPU which empowers Snapdragon Elite Gaming, is on Qualcomm GPU Turbo mode, which is basically a system optimization tool for better processing allocation to provide a better gaming experience. For connectivity, the new Qualcomm SOC Snapdragon X24 LTE also employs the Snapdragon X50 5G modem for the 5G support.

The article, which is now pulled down, revealed that the new SOC is based on the 7 Nm process and has a dedicated NPU with a Multicore AI engine that provides 3x better performance about AI-based functions such as Ai Visual Identity And object recognition in comparison to its predecessor. Smartphones powered by Snapdragon 855 SOC from brands like Samsung, LG, HTC, OnePlus and Oppo are expected to come in the first half of 2019.

Qualcomm is also expected to unveil 'Sonic 3D' Ultrasonic In-Display Fingerprint Sensor at the company's annual Tech Summit, which is closed later on. Qualcomm's under-display fingerprint sensor will power the under-screen fingerprint method of the upcoming Galaxy S10 and it is claimed that the screen protector is claimed to be super fast fingerprint recognition even with high sensitivity.
