AirPods Pro Teardown Shows How 'Impractical' They Are to Repair: iFixit

AirPods Pro debuted earlier this week as an upgrade to existing AirPods with active noise cancellation. While the new AirPods models have undergone significant changes that we saw earlier, they are just as bad as their predecessors when it comes to iteration.

One disturbance held by IFixit is that AirPods Pro headphones come with a "glued design" that makes them "impractical" and "impolite" to repair. It looks similar to not only the first generation AirPods but also the second generation AirPods 2, which were unveiled in March.

The tampering by IFixit shows that AirPods Pro has undergone several design changes compared to earlier AirPods versions.

The new model's battery is stuck just below the earpiece. Instead of a long battery pack, the AirPod Pro includes a button cell, which is available on the Samsung Galaxy Buds. Earbuds also include a mysterious black rectangle chip that may be a force sensor.

In its case, the AirPods Pro has a battery with capacities ranging from 1.52Whr to 1.98Whr, similar to the one featured on earlier models.

However, Apple does not underline any changes in terms of battery life. The new model is deferred to give five hours of listening time or 4.5 hours with active noise cancellation.

The case of AirPods Pro is also found to be "crack nut to crack" as its predecessors. There are layers of plastic, stick with adhesive.

Apple has provided a liquid-resistant coating on the AirPods Pro case. Under the coating, the teardrop shows the presence of the Broadcom 59356A2KUBG wireless charging module. This is the same module shown in AirPods 2.

All of this shows how the Cupertino giant has changed the hardware on the AirPods Pro. But even then, the headphones are still hard enough to repair - if not to cite ifixit, impractical and unofficial.

The team notes that the design makes them semi-serviceable, but the non-modular, glued-out design brings a solid zero reversion score to iFixit's benchmark. This is similar to the original AirPods and AirPods 2's repairable score.

Difficulty repairing AirPods Pro pushes customers to watch recycle or participate in a "battery service" program if they encounter a battery issue in the future.

In a statement by Wired's Lauren Gode, Apple confirmed that AirPods Pro is "not more repairable than previous versions" of AirPods.

Having said that, if you are okay with a lack of repurchase, you can choose AirPods Pro for $ 249 in the US. They are worth Rs. "Hit" India soon with a price tag of. 24,900.
